【摘要】:Knowledgeofthefrictionalpropertiesofawintercontaminatedpavementsurfaceisessentialtoevaluatethebrakingeffortofgroundvehiclesoraircraftoperatingonapavementsurface.Thepresenceofcontaminantsonapavementsurfacewillaffectthefrictionalpropertiesofthesurfaceinamannerwhichisdifficulttoevaluatebyvisualobservationalone.Thefrictionalpropertiesofawintercontaminatedpavementsurfacecanbecharacterizedusingaspotmeasuringdecelerometerwhichprovidesameasurementofthesurfacefrictionandassistswiththeevaluationofpavementwintermaintenancerequirements.Themeasurementsproducedbythistestmethodshouldnotbeusedasthesolecriteriatodeterminepavementwintermaintenancerequirements.Themeasurementswouldnormallybecombinedwithvisualandotherobservationstoprovideamorecompleteanalysisofthepavementsurfaceconditions.Acertainamountofdiscretionisrequiredonthepartoftheoperatorasthistestmethodprovidesonlyax201C;spotx201D;measurementofthesurfacecondition.Theobjectiveoftheoperatoristoidentifyareasofthewintercontaminatedpavementsurfacewhichmayhavelowerfrictionandthenobtainfrictionmeasurementsinthoseareas.Thismakesthetestmethodsomewhatconservativebynatureincomparisontotheactualfrictionpotential.Themeasurementsproducedbythistestmethodaredependentonthetestvehicleparametersandonthebrakingtechniqueofthevehicleoperator.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthemeasurementofthefrictionalpropertiesofwintercontaminatedpavementsurfacesusinganaveraging-typespotmeasuringdecelerometer.Themethodproducesareadingthatisproportionaltothedecelerationsustainedbyatestvehiclefittedwithpneumaticrubbertiresbrakingwithallwheelslocked.Africtionindexforasectionofwintercontaminatedpavementisdeterminedfromtheaverageofseveraldecelerationmeasurementsrecordedoverthesectionofwintercontaminatedpavement.1.2Thistestmethodisapplicabletoaveraging-typespotmeasuringdecelerometers.1.3Thistestmethodisapplicabletothefollowingwintercontaminatedpavementsurfaceconditions:1.3.1Ice;1.3.2Wetice(icecoveredwithathinfilmofmoistureofadepthinsufficienttocausehydroplaning);1.3.3Compactedsnow,anydepth;1.3.4Slushonice,slushnotexceeding3mm(0.1in.)indepth;1.3.5Loose,drysnow,notexceeding25mm(1in.)indepth;1.3.6Icecontrolchemicalsolutiononice;and1.3.7Sandonice.1.4Thistestmethodshallnotbeusedwhenthefollowingwintercontaminatedpavementsurfaceconditionsarepresent:1.4.1Wateronabarepavementsurface;1.4.2Slush;and1.4.3Loosesnowexceeding25mm(1in.)indepth.1.5ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesinparenthesesareininch-poundunitsandarenotexactequivalents,therefore,eachsystemmustbeusedindependentoftheother,withoutcombiningvaluesinanyway.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
