【摘要】:1.1Thisspecificationcoversquality-controlledgradedaggregatesthat,whenhauledtoandproperlyspreadandcompactedonapreparedgradetoappropriatedensitystandards,maybeexpectedtoprovideadequatestabilityandloadsupportforuseashighwayorairportbasesorsubbases.Note18212;Theengineeriscautionedtoprovideappropriateconstructionspecificationstoensurecompactiontoanextentthatfurtherdensificationfromtrafficloadingsonthecompletedpavementwillbeinsignificant.Themethodsuggestedistorequirecompactiononafirmfoundationofashortcontrolstripofthematerialatasuitablemoisturecontent,bymeansofvibratoryorotherproveneffectiverollersortampers,untilnofurtherincreaseindensityresults.Compactionrequirementsshouldensurethatanaveragedensityofcertainappropriatepercentagesofthecontrolstripmaximumdensitybeachievedonthebalanceofthejob;forbasecourses,98%issuggestedastheminimumaveragerequirement.1.2ThevaluesstatedineitherSIunitsorinch-poundunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemmaynotbeexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemshallbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnon-conformancewiththestandard.1.3Thetextofthisstandardreferencesnotesandfootnoteswhichprovideexplanatorymaterial.Thesenotesandfootnotes(excludingthoseintablesandfigures)shallnotbeconsideredasrequirementsofthestandard.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
