【摘要】:Thisspecificationcoversacrosslinkedpolyethyleneinsulationforelectricalwiresandcablesforconductorsizes8AWG(8.37mm)andlarger.Thebasepolymerofthisinsulationconsistssubstantiallyofpolyethylene.Thistypeofinsulationissuitableforuseonpowercablesinwetanddrylocationsatconductortemperaturesnotexceeding90?Cforcontinuousoperation,130?Cforemergencyoverloadconditions,and250?Cforshort-circuitconditions.Itisconsideredsuitableforallsizesandvoltageclassificationsofsingle-andmultiple-conductorpowercablesatvoltageratingsof2001to35000Vphase-to-phaseatthe100%insulationlevelandatvoltageratingsof2001to25000Vatthe133%insulationlevelaslistedinTable1CofTestMethodsD470.Materialscoveredbythisspecificationarenotsunlight-andweather-resistantunlesstheyarecarbonblackpigmentedorcontainanadditivesystemdesignedforthisprotection.Inmanyinstancestheinsulationcannotbetestedunlessithasbeenformedaroundaconductor.Therefore,testsaredoneoninsulatedwireinthisstandardsolelytodeterminetherelevantpropertyoftheinsulationandnottotesttheconductororcompletedcable.Whenevertwosetsofvaluesarepresented,indifferentunits,thevaluesinthefirstsetarethestandard,whilethoseinparenthesesareforinformationonly.
